Dicks Picks # 31 is full of this type of ethereal, mindmeld fusion type 2 jamming beginning with a 25 minute Playin that is very jazz oriented.

i'd say that desctibes a type II perfectly...

by the way, i just listened to the looks like rain -> jam from 3-28-85. after a typically powerful looks like rain you get this amazing 7 or so minutes of straight jamming! i dont think they ever played a rain like that, they literally just launch into a new jam after finishing the song which takes them nicely in drums. check it out.

who's got some more of these jams i need to hear?!

also from '85- 10/29, the jam after crazy fingers is good. But of course, this is just one I've recently listened to, there are hundreds out there. Maybe I'll make a list.
